AtlasVision Delivers: Two Suspects Arrested Following AI Camera Alert

It was just before sunrise when AtlasVision did what it does best. At 06:38, Atlas Security’s AI-powered camera system flagged suspicious activity at a client’s premises on Campbell Street. Two suspects were detected simultaneously, one on the driveway and another already inside the yard. Within three minutes, our armed response team was on scene. Bravo 99 arrived first and held position, listening carefully. He could hear movement at the back of the property and immediately called for backup. Bravo 17 and additional units responded without hesitation.

On Saturday morning, while attending to a call in the Sydenham area, Atlas Security’s Armed Response Officer Bravo 20 was approached by a security officer. The security officer reported four males cutting cables along the railway line and provided a clothing description. Our Armed Response Officer Bravo 20 was immediately dispatched to investigate.

EARLY MORNING STAKE-OUT LEADS TO VEHICLE RECOVERY

Earlier this morning Atlas Security Control Room received information regarding a stolen motorcycle from the Cotswold area. Our Rapid Intervention Units and Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched, with Armed Response Officer Bravo 8 positioning at the Cotswold Bridge a known escape route linking the N2 and Cape Road. Within minutes, a suspect vehicle was identified travelling toward the N2. Through layered coordination between the Control Room, CCTV operators and our Armed Response Officers, it was confirmed the vehicle was transporting the stolen motorcycle.

House Robbery Suspect Arrested

On the evening of 21 January 2026, Atlas Security’s Rapid Intervention Unit (RIU) responded to a phone-in reaction reporting shots fired in the Sydenham area. Armed Response Officers Bravo 140 and Bravo 17 were already on scene alongside SAPS when the incident was reported. The Control Room immediately acknowledged the call and dispatched RIU vehicle R01 without delay.

Early this morning a panic signal was activated from a home within the Framesby area, immediately alerting Atlas Security’s Control Room to a possible crime in progress. Within seconds, our dispatchers acknowledged the alert and mobilised armed response vehicles to the scene. It was confirmed that a suspect was actively tampering with the property’s letterbox, attempting to remove the brass fittings.

December is traditionally a high-risk month, but Atlas Security closed December 2025 with a clear reduction in crime despite increased festive movement and vacant homes. 480 incidents were recorded in December, down from 560 in November. This reflects a 14.3% month-on-month decrease, a strong result for the holiday period.

Atlas Security has strengthened safety at Moffett Retail Park with the installation of a new dedicated CCTV pole, further expanding its investment into crime prevention infrastructure across Nelson Mandela Bay. The newly installed pole is directly linked to Atlas Security’s expanded CCTV Control Room and is equipped with three License Plate Recognition cameras and three high- definition overview cameras. On the evening of 23 December 2025, Atlas Security’s Control Room detected suspicious movement via live CCTV monitoring at a business premises in Swartkops, triggering a swift, coordinated response. Live CCTV footage revealed a male dressed in dark clothing moving around the guard house, before entering the premises and sprinting toward the factory roof. Moments later, Bravo 20 confirmed that the suspect was seen climbing onto the roof and lifting roof sheeting, confirming a business break-in in progress.

In the early hours of the morning, Atlas Security’s Control Room once again proved why real-time monitoring saves time, prevents loss and leads to arrests. Our CCTV cameras detected suspicious movement on the cameras in North End. Two male suspects were observed jumping over the rear boundary wall and moving through the premises. Atlas Security has recently seen a sharp increase in business break-ins, particularly within industrial areas. Factories, warehouses and commercial premises that are closed after hours are increasingly being targeted by opportunistic criminals who know these sites are often quiet and unattended. During several recent incidents, our Control Room has experienced difficulty contacting registered keyholders when alerts are activated. In some instances, phones go unanswered or no keyholder is available to attend site when access is required. This significantly slows the response process and in high-risk incidents, delays increase exposure and risk.

Uitenhage/Kariega Under Pressure, Atlas Responds: Two Arrests in One Day

Another strong operational success for Atlas Security in Uitenhage, an area currently experiencing a high rate of criminal activity. Earlier today, Atlas Security’s Control Room received a burglary signal from a business premises in Uitenhage. Armed Response Officer Bravo 155 was immediately dispatched and, upon arrival, conducted an external inspection which confirmed a break-in in progress. Continuous updates were relayed to the Control Room, and additional backup was requested without delay.

In the early hours of the morning, Atlas Security’s Control Room received a phone in alert from a client in Penford, Uitenhage, reporting a suspected theft from his vehicle. The client confirmed that his credit card holder was missing and advised that it had been left inside the vehicle. Our Armed Response Officers was immediately dispatched, with the client verifying his details while checking if any additional items had been taken.

The operation began when our CCTV team spotted two males jumping a boundary fence, with one appearing to be armed. What initially looked like a nearby residential complex was quickly identified as a construction site linked to new student accommodation, sharing a boundary wall with the village next door.

Earlier today Atlas Security’s Control Room received a panic signal from a residential premises. Upon arrival, our armed response team made contact with the property owner, who confirmed a positive incident in progress. The armed response officer promptly relayed updates to the Control Room and requested backup assistance. Bravo 11 and our RIU vehicle unit were dispatched and arrived shortly thereafter.

Weekends are usually our busiest periods and while we did see a spike in incidents across the city, especially with businesses being targeted, the real story is how well our teams performed. Despite increased activity, our armed response teams were on fire, securing arrests in areas like Lorraine, Deal Party and Summerstrand. Earlier this weekend, Atlas Security’s Control Room received a distressed phone call reporting suspected copper cable theft and damage to infrastructure in the Lorraine area. Atlas Security Armed Response Officer Bravo 20, while conducting routine patrols, observed a male walking with a large amount of cables.

On 15 November 2025, Atlas Security responded immediately to a panic alert from a client who reported three suspects breaking into a property at Hull Street. Armed Response Officer Bravo 57 entered the client’s premises, where he observed the kitchen door had been forced open. He intercepted and arrested the first suspect exiting the property.

Atlas Security’s Control Room received real time alerts from our CCTV operators regarding a stolen grey charcoal vehicle from Newton Park on 11 November 2025. The vehicle was captured multiple times on CCTV cameras in Summerstrand and each time the Control Room immediately notified Atlas Security Armed Response Officers of its location.

October saw a noticeable rise in crime activity across the city. After removing CCTV-related cases, a total of 548 incidents were recorded, up from 458 in September. That’s a 19.65% increase, driven mostly by theft, attempted theft, burglary attempts and vehicle-related incidents.
