Behind Every Call: A Week of Atlas Security in Action
Crime

Weekly Crime Stats: 17 - 23 August 2026
Every week our control room and response teams handle a steady stream of calls across Nelson Mandela Bay. Here's a clear look at what our teams responded to this week, area by area, so our community stays informed.
The Week At A Glance
Between 17 and 23 August, Atlas Security responded to 101 incidents across our footprint. Just over half were at homes (56), with the rest at businesses and commercial sites (45). Our teams were dispatched through alarm signals, phone-ins, CCTV alerts and social media reports, day and night.

Where Our Teams Were Busiest
Walmer saw the highest number of responses this week, followed by Summerstrand and Kariega Central. North End, Overbaakens, Broadwood and several other suburbs across the metro, Kariega and Despatch also kept our response teams active.
Response In Action
Behind every number on this list is a team member who answered the call. This week that included:
- Response officers interrupting break-in attempts before entry was gained, in more than one case sending suspects fleeing empty-handed
- Foot patrols tracking down suspects spotted fleeing the scene, working alongside CCTV control room operators who flagged suspicious movement in real time
- Officers standing by with clients through medical emergencies and a serious vehicle accident, coordinating with paramedics and SAPS on scene
- Quick coordination between our units and SAPS wherever a case needed to be opened
A Reminder For Our Community
Most break-in attempts this week were stopped because clients acted fast, pressed their panic button, and trusted their alarm system. A few simple habits go a long way:
- Report anything unusual immediately, even if you're not sure it's serious
- Keep gates, windows and burglar bars in good repair, cable theft and forced windows were common entry points this week
- Save camera footage as soon as you notice anything out of place, it helps our teams and SAPS act faster
These stats reflect our own response activity for the week, not a measure of crime across the whole city. Our commitment stays the same: fast, professional response, wherever you are in our footprint.
