A Near Two-Hour Pursuit Ends in Arrest, Nine Warrants Revealed

Just after 11am on Friday morning, Atlas Security's control room received a report from a school in Sunridge Park of a theft from a motor vehicle on their premises. What followed was a focused, coordinated operation that would unfold over nearly two hours and ultimately take a repeat offender off the streets.
Operators at the Atlas Security CCTV Desk immediately began working to identify the vehicle involved. Through our robust CCTV Network, the vehicle was traced and confirmed to be registered to a car rental company, a detail that raised immediate concern. In recent months, Nelson Mandela Bay has seen criminal syndicates exploit rental vehicles and cloned registration plates to carry out crimes while evading detection.
The breakthrough came when the vehicle was picked up on a monitored camera in Baakens Valley, South End. Rapid Intervention Units and armed response officers were immediately dispatched, with the vehicle being actively tracked.
Over the course of the operation, our teams maintained coordination between ground units and the CCTV Desk, keeping the vehicle in their sights until it was ultimately located in Gould Street, Sidwell. SAPS were called to the scene and took the alleged suspect into custody.
What came next demonstrated just how significant this intervention was. Upon processing, it was revealed that the suspect is subject to nine outstanding warrants of arrest. The vehicle has since been impounded and the suspect remains in detention.
This outcome is a reflection of what is possible when every part of the team pulls in the same direction. A special mention goes to armed response officers Bravo 140, Bravo 17, and Bravo 2, whose determination on the ground made this arrest possible. Equal credit goes to the incredible work done by our CCTV Desk, whose sharp eyes and fast coordination were the backbone of this entire operation.
