In the early hours of this morning, our CCTV control room picked up two males moving through King Georges Road in Mill Park, behaviour that immediately caught the attention of our operators. Within minutes, cameras confirmed the pair attempting to force open a lamp pole, stripping cables in an attempt to make off with copper.
Our control room acted fast, prioritising the signal and mobilising response. Bravo B57 was dispatched, with Bravo B64 following in support. Our CCTV team kept eyes on the suspects throughout, tracking their movement between King Georges Road and Target Kloof and relaying real time updates to teams on the ground.
Backed by live footage from our camera network and the reach of our partnership with Vumacam, response units and SAPS closed in together. The suspects were apprehended, found in possession of cable and a knife, and were taken into custody by SAPS.
This is what our CCTV infrastructure across Nelson Mandela Bay is built for. Constant eyes, fast coordination, real results. Another win for the network, another win for the community.
