ATLAS SECURITY | NMB CRIME REPORT 9 -15 March 2026
Atlas Security responded to 104 incidents across Nelson Mandela Bay between 9 and 15 March 2026. The data below reflects Atlas Security responses only and does not represent the total crime picture for the metro.
This represents a 22.4% increase on the previous week, when Atlas Security responded to 85 incidents. Theft and burglary-related incidents continued to make up the bulk of activity, with residential and commercial properties equally targeted in several categories. Medical emergencies also featured prominently, accounting for 19 of the 104 incidents responded to.
Theft
Atlas Security responding to 31 confirmed theft incidents split evenly between residential and commercial properties (16 and 15 respectively). A further 12 theft attempts were also responded to, indicating that Atlas Security's visible presence and rapid response are actively deterring criminal activity before it is completed.
Burglary
Atlas Security responded to 28 burglary-related incidents across the week, combining confirmed entries (12) and attempts (16). Residential properties accounted for 15 of these (7 confirmed, 8 attempts) while commercial properties recorded 13 (5 confirmed, 8 attempts).
Robbery
Atlas Security responded to four robbery incidents during the week. These included two robberies of persons, one armed robbery, and one house robbery. Response officers coordinated with SAPS where applicable. Residents are reminded to remain vigilant, keep gates and access points secured, and to contact the Atlas Security control room immediately on 0861 585 585 if anything looks suspicious.
Medical Emergencies
Atlas Security responded to 19 medical emergency call-outs during the period. Response vehicles are equipped to assist first responders on scene and ensure that medical emergencies are attended to as swiftly as possible while awaiting EMS.
Areas of Note
The five suburbs with the highest concentration of incidents this week were:
- Sidwell (5 incidents)
- Mosel, Kariega Central, Rowallan Park, South End (4 incidents each)
Incident distribution across the metro was broad, with 48 different suburbs recording at least one incident during the period. No single area dominated the picture.
Busiest Day
Saturday 14 March was the busiest single day of the week, with Atlas Security responding to 21 incidents. Monday 9 March followed with 19, and Friday 13 March with 18.

Atlas Security - February Report 2026

February 2026 saw Atlas Security respond to 378 incidents across Nelson Mandela Bay, reflecting a notable increase on the 258 incidents recorded in January. Theft-related crimes remained the dominant crime, while medical emergencies and burglaries also featured prominently. Despite the higher incident volume, our teams effected 27 arrests during the month, with all suspects handed over to SAPS.

A Week Of Standing Strong With Our Community

It was a week unlike most. Nelson Mandela Bay was hit hard by some of the worst weather the metro has seen in years. A Level 8 warning from the South African Weather Service brought heavy rain, flooding, road closures, evacuations and damage right across the city. Through it all, the Atlas Security team did what we do best. We showed up.

The first week of January provided an early indication of what crime patterns across Nelson Mandela Bay are shaping up to look like in 2026. Between 1 and 7 January, Atlas Security responded to 108 incidents across the metro and apprehended 24 suspects linked to multiple crimes.
