Roof-Top Arrest in Walmer: Atlas Security Stops Burglary in Progress
Crime

Early this morning, our control room picked up an alarm activation at a business in Fifth Avenue, Walmer, just after 04:30. One of our area vehicles arrived to find clear signs of a break-in. Backup vehicles responded immediately.
The suspect gained entry by climbing a pole, jumping the fence, and breaking through the roof sheeting. He then dropped into the ceiling and broke through into the storeroom, targeting cables inside. As the team arrived, the suspect tried to escape the same way he got in—through the roof.
With teamwork and quick thinking, our backup vehicles worked together to secure the building from all sides. Officers managed to corner the suspect as he attempted to hide in the ceiling. Atlas Security Armed Response Officer, Bravo 123 entered the roof space and successfully apprehended the suspect before he could get away. SAPS arrived shortly after, and a case has been opened.
Another great example of our teams responding quickly, working together, and protecting our community, even when suspects go to extreme lengths to break in.
