Weekly Crime Snapshot: What Happened Between 4–10 August

Between 4 and 10 August 2025, Atlas Security responded to 116 incidents across Nelson Mandela Bay. This marks a 12.6% increase compared to the previous week’s 103 incidents.
The most reported incident type was theft (39 cases), followed by medical emergencies (21), burglary (16), attempted theft (14), and attempted burglary (12).
Newton Park was the most affected suburb with 10 incidents, closely followed by Bothasrus (9), while 34 suburbs recorded just one incident each.
Most incidents occurred on Monday, with activity peaking at 6 PM.
Residential properties made up the majority of targets at 59.5%, with commercial properties accounting for 40.5%.

Eyes on Every Entry at Moffett Retail Park

Atlas Security has strengthened safety at Moffett Retail Park with the installation of a new dedicated CCTV pole, further expanding its investment into crime prevention infrastructure across Nelson Mandela Bay. The newly installed pole is directly linked to Atlas Security’s expanded CCTV Control Room and is equipped with three License Plate Recognition cameras and three high- definition overview cameras. Any wanted or flagged vehicle entering the area is immediately detected, triggering real-time alerts to the Control Room where the necessary operational steps are actioned without delay.
