Two Early Morning House Robberies Leave Residents Shaken
General

Atlas Security’s control room received two distress calls in the early hours of Friday, October 24th, both frightening reminders of how quickly crime can strike, even while families sleep.
Incident 1 – Admiralty Way, Summerstrand
Just after 3 a.m., a panic signal was received from a residence in Admiralty Way. Armed response officers B77, B15 and B5 were immediately dispatched.
Two suspects had gained entry by forcing open a bathroom window after bending the burglar bars. The homeowner, asleep at the time, awoke to find the intruders inside his bedroom. In an attempt to defend himself, he was stabbed several times. Despite his injuries, he managed to press his panic button, a move that brought help within minutes.
Officers arrived quickly, secured the scene, and an ambulance transported the victim to the hospital. It appears that nothing was stolen from the home, and the suspects fled after the panic signal was triggered.
Incident 2 – Charlo
At around 2:40 a.m., a phone-in alert reported a robbery at a complex in Walter Road, Charlo. Two suspects, one armed with a firearm, entered a home after forcing open a back door where the security gate had been left unlocked.
The residents woke to find the intruders in their bedroom. Thankfully, no one was injured. The suspects escaped on foot with laptops and personal items. Response officers B49, B82 and B80 secured the scene and assisted the South African Police Service in their investigation.
Staying Safe at Home
These incidents serve as serious reminders of how vital small safety habits can be:
- Always lock security gates and windows, even when you’re inside.
- Keep a panic button close to your bed or linked to your phone.
- Don’t confront intruders — your safety comes first.
- Check your alarm system regularly to make sure all zones are active.
- Report any suspicious activity in your street or complex immediately.
