Huge Win for Summerstrand: Atlas Security’s DPS Units Tackle Armed Robbery Surge

Crime

On Friday night, Atlas Security’s Dedicated Patrol Service made a significant breakthrough in Summerstrand, a suburb that’s been hit hard by a spike in robberies targeting pedestrians in recent weeks.

Just after 22:30, DPS Unit 1 was flagged down on Brighton Drive by two individuals who had been robbed moments earlier by three suspects, one allegedly armed with a firearm. DPS Unit 1 immediately called for backup, and DPS Unit 2 arrived within minutes to assist.

Thanks to their swift action, DPS Unit 1 quickly located the first suspect on the corner of Brighton Drive and 11th Avenue and made an arrest. Not letting the situation slip, DPS Unit 1 pursued the second suspect, who had attempted to hide in a nearby yard, and successfully apprehended him as well. The third suspect managed to flee and remains at large.

During the arrests, a firearm was recovered. SAPS arrived on the scene soon after, taking both suspects and the victims to the police station. One of the stolen cellphones was also recovered during the operation.

This incident stands out as a major win for the area, especially given the recent spike in robbery cases. The rapid response and teamwork from Atlas Security’s DPS Units sent a clear message: we are serious about protecting our community, and visible patrols make a difference.
