BREAKING THE SILENCE OF THE NIGHT: 3 SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN NEWTON PARK

Crime

In the early hours of Monday morning, an attempted burglary at a commercial premises in Newton Park was swiftly intercepted by the quick thinking and relentless pursuit of Atlas Security’s Rapid Intervention Unit.

At 02:21, a burglary signal was picked up from Burt Drive. Surveillance cameras revealed two suspects on-site—one draped in a red/pink blanket. Within minutes, armed response units were dispatched.

Bravo 52 was first to arrive and confirmed the theft of two CCTV cameras. With the client unavailable and no SAPS presence yet, the team temporarily withdrew, but not for long.

Determined to bring those responsible to justice, Bravo 8 began tracking possible escape routes. Just before 03:30, near Cape Road, Bravo 8 potted suspicious movement, one suspect tried hiding behind a box, while others pretended to play soccer. Bravo 8 made the first arrest on the spot.

With backup from Bravo 20, Bravo 81, Bravo 52 and Bravo 160, a coordinated sweep led to the arrest of the remaining two suspects at a nearby bottle store.

Thanks to intelligence, teamwork, and the persistence of our RIU officers, all three suspects were apprehended, stolen property recovered, and SAPS opened a case for investigation.

This is what happens when technology meets tenacity.
This is the power of Atlas Security.
