June 2025 Crime Trends & Insights: What the Numbers Tell Us

Staying informed is the first step in keeping our community safe. Here’s a look at what the latest stats from June 2025 reveal about crime trends, security activity, and how Atlas Security is working to keep you protected.

Incidents on the Rise

June saw a total of 435 security incidents across our footprint—a slight increase of 1.64% compared to May’s 428 incidents. While the change isn’t dramatic, it serves as an important reminder that vigilance matters, especially as crime patterns can shift from month to month.

Where Did Most Incidents Happen?

The areas most affected during June were:

  • Walmer (44 incidents)
  • Summerstrand (31 incidents)
  • Newton Park, and Bothasrus

What Types of Incidents Are Most Common?

The most frequent incident type was theft, with 133 reported cases. Medical emergencies (84), burglaries (60), theft attempts (54), and burglary attempts (39) also featured prominently. As always, theft remains a major concern, but the diversity of incident types highlights the need for comprehensive security solutions.

Residential vs Commercial Properties

The split between incidents at residential (246) and commercial (189) properties was fairly even, showing that all types of premises face risks and should be proactive with security measures.

Law Enforcement & Arrests

SAPS case numbers were opened in 92 instances. Our teams also played a key role in law enforcement, with 29 arrests made during the month. These outcomes reflect both the effectiveness of rapid response and strong cooperation with the police.

On the Move: Coverage You Can Count On

Atlas Security vehicles traveled a combined 289,906 kilometers in June alone. This level of coverage ensures that our response teams are never far when needed most.

Smart Technology in Action

Our License Plate Recognition (LPR) cameras continue to provide a powerful layer of intelligence, reading over 5.8 million license plates and generating 3,845 alerts in June across Nelson Mandela Bay. This technology helps us quickly identify suspicious vehicles and coordinate with law enforcement, often stopping crime before it happens.

Stay Alert, Stay Connected

Crime trends shift and new methods emerge, but the data shows that awareness, community participation, and reliable security are your best defense. Make sure your security system is in top working order, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you notice anything suspicious in your area.

Atlas Security remains committed to protecting you and your community, backed by experience, technology, and people who care.
