Arrest: Penford, Uitenhage

In the early hours of the morning, Atlas Security’s Control Room received a phone in alert from a client in Penford, Uitenhage, reporting a suspected theft from his vehicle.
The client confirmed that his credit card holder was missing and advised that it had been left inside the vehicle. Our Armed Response Officers was immediately dispatched, with the client verifying his details while checking if any additional items had been taken.
During patrols in the surrounding area, Armed Response Officer Bravo 155 observed a male matching the description provided. He was in possession of the client’s wallet as well as wiring and appeared to be intoxicated at the time.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect had gained access through the front gate and opened the driver’s door of the client’s vehicle, which had been left unlocked. The client later provided video footage confirming the incident and positively identified the suspect on scene.
SAPS was contacted and responded accordingly. The suspect was handed over into SAPS custody.

This particular crime is not isolated to one area—suspects tend to target a neighbourhood, removing two to three water meters at a time before moving on to the next location.
