Eight Criminals, Eight Arrests—One Night. Atlas Security and RIU Lead the Way.

Last night, Atlas Security and our Rapid Intervention Unit (RIU) made eight arrests across Nelson Mandela Bay, sending a strong message to would-be criminals: you’re not welcome in our city.

Linkside: Caught in the Act

Our teams were quick to respond after reports came in of a suspect with a trolley full of cables moving through Linkside. Thanks to sharp coordination and rapid reaction from Atlas Security Armed Response Officers B56, B62, B106, and B20, the suspect was tracked from the golf course all the way to Carnoustie Crescent. When stopped, the suspect tried to hide the contents of his trolley, but our officer’s persistence paid off, over 20 meters of stolen cables were recovered and the suspect was detained until SAPS arrived. This is yet another example of how our officers turn information into action, protecting critical infrastructure and keeping your lights on.

Targeting Municipal Infrastructure: No Getaway Here

The night didn’t end there. In the early hours, our RIU team (B20 and supporting officers) spotted three suspects on Kempston Road, digging up municipal poles with break-in tools at hand. Working together, the team managed to apprehend all three before they could cause more damage or slip away. Once again, SAPS was on site to take the suspects into custody, with stolen infrastructure secured.

Stopping Theft in Its Tracks

Elsewhere, Bravo 8 , Bravo 20 , Bravo 148, and Bravo 81 responded to suspicious activity in Harrower Road and Milner Avenue, where vehicle wheel caps and a gate motor had been stolen. Their teamwork resulted in the arrest of two suspects, the recovery of stolen property, and further disruption of a local crime spree.

Why We’re Voted No. 1

Nights like these are the reason Atlas Security was voted the security company doing the most to fight crime. Our RIU teams don’t just respond, they prevent, pursue, and protect. They work hand-in-hand with our armed response officers, combining boots on the ground with local knowledge and tactical expertise.

A Word of Thanks

To our officers—Bravo 56, Bravo 62, Bravo 106, Bravo 20, Bravo 8, Bravo 148, and Bravo 81, and to the community who keeps us informed: thank you for making our city safer, together.

When you choose Atlas Security, you’re choosing a team that doesn’t back down. That’s why we’re trusted to protect more homes, businesses, and public spaces than anyone else in Nelson Mandela Bay.
