Weekly Crime Snapshot: Positive Shifts, Cautious Optimism

Crime

This past week, Atlas Security responded to 103 incidents across Nelson Mandela Bay, showing a 15.6% decrease compared to the previous week. Theft remains the most common incident, with residential properties still being the main target.

A notable shift this week comes from Newton Park. After being a hotspot for several weeks, Newton Park now finds itself among the least affected suburbs, with just one incident recorded. This is a significant win for both the community and the teams on the ground, but ongoing vigilance remains essential.

Summerstrand, Sidwell, North End, Walmer, and Central were the most affected areas this week. The majority of incidents took place in the morning, peaking between 8:00 and 9:00.

In total, Atlas Security made 7 arrests following various incidents, and 28 cases were formally opened with SAPS. Every incident reflected in these stats involved a direct response from Atlas Security teams.

While it’s encouraging to see progress in previously high-risk areas like Newton Park, the need to remain alert hasn’t changed. We encourage all residents and businesses to maintain good security habits and to contact us for advice on enhancing safety.

If you would like a detailed breakdown for your suburb or more information on these trends, our team is here to help.
