89 Incidents, 75,000 Kilometres, and Zero Days Off for Security
Safety

This past week, our teams responded to 89 incidents across the city, demonstrating that criminals are still active and testing the waters. Theft and attempted theft topped the list, keeping our officers sharp and alert. Medical emergencies, burglary attempts, and break-ins also made for a busy week.
Walmer had the most reported incidents, with Central, Summerstrand, Uitenhage, and Newton Park close behind. Meanwhile, areas such as Van Riebeeck Hoogte, Heuwelkruin, Parsons Hill, Vanes Estate, and Kabega Park each had only a single incident.
Our officers made 9 arrests—another reminder that an active patrol can be the difference between a close call and a crime prevented.
And just to give you an idea of our ground coverage:
- Rapid Intervention Unit clocked up 3,559 km
- Armed Response teams travelled a whopping 72,121 km
That’s a lot of tyres on tarmac (and more than a few cups of coffee). Our teams really do go the distance to keep our community safe.
