Swift RIU Arrest in Summerstrand Robbery Spree
Crime

Another suspect taken down! Atlas Security’s rapid response led to the swift apprehension of an armed robbery suspect at Pollok Beach, thanks to seamless teamwork with SAPS.
While patrolling in Summerstrand, our team entered the Pollok Beach parking area and spotted a SAPS vehicle with its driver’s door open. Upon investigation, officers on the scene informed us that a suspect, dressed in black and armed with a knife, had just robbed a victim before fleeing toward Admiralty Way along the sand.
Without hesitation, our team jumped into action. Splitting into two search groups—one covering the sand and the other patrolling nearby paths—we also called in additional support from our RIU (Rapid Intervention Unit) to extend our reach. The suspect soon realized he was cornered, freezing for a brief moment before making a run for it. But Atlas Security Armed Response Officer, Bravo 81 was already in position, cutting off his escape and securing the arrest.
As the suspect was being escorted, two more victims approached, identifying him as the same individual who had robbed them just 20 minutes earlier. Shortly after, a third set of victims, a husband and wife, reported that the suspect had stolen a phone at knifepoint. The victim’s wife repeatedly called the device, and Bravo 81 tracked it down inside the suspect’s bag along the walkway.
This is yet another example of how Atlas Security’s fast, coordinated efforts alongside SAPS are making Nelson Mandela Bay a safer place.
