Successful Arrest of Wanted Gang Rape Suspect in Central
Crime

A wanted suspect in a brutal gang rape case has been successfully apprehended following the swift actions of Atlas Security’s armed response team and SAPS.
The horrific incident took place in February 2025 at an abandoned house on the corner of Smith and Campbell Street in Central. A 20-year-old female victim was attacked by four suspects after being forcibly pulled through a hole in the wall of the abandoned property. Three of the suspects had already been arrested by the SAPS, leaving only the main suspect at large.
On Saturday morning, 8 March 2025, Atlas Security Armed Response Officer, Bravo 99 was on patrol when he spotted the wanted suspect in Smith Street. Without hesitation, he immediately contacted the investigating officer from the Humewood Police Station. Maintaining visual contact, Bravo 99 discreetly followed the suspect until SAPS officers arrived. The suspect was eventually arrested while hiding at another abandoned house—one frequently used by criminals as a hideout. This particular property belongs to owners who live overseas, making it an easy target for illegal occupation.
With this latest arrest, SAPS has now successfully detained all four suspects involved in the case, marking a crucial step toward justice for the victim.
Atlas Security remains committed to working closely with law enforcement to ensure the safety of our communities. This case highlights the ongoing issue of abandoned properties being exploited by criminals and the importance of vigilance and collaboration in crime prevention.
