February 2025: A Month of Vigilance and Community Collaboration in Crime Prevention
February saw a continued commitment from Atlas Security to safeguard Nelson Mandela Bay, Atlas Security responded to 429 incidents across Nelson Mandela Bay. While challenges persist, our proactive strategies and community partnerships have led to notable successes in crime prevention.
Notable Arrests and Successes
Throughout February, Atlas Security achieved significant milestones in crime prevention and suspect apprehension:
• February 1-10: Our teams responded to various incidents, leading to arrests in Despatch, North End, Perseverance, Rosedale, Summerstrand, and Walmer.
• February 10-17: Atlas Security responded to 133 incidents and successfully arrested 27 suspects, demonstrating our relentless pursuit of criminals and dedication to community safety.
• February 17: In a single day, our officers showcased exceptional vigilance by apprehending 9 suspects across various operations, reinforcing our commitment to proactive crime prevention.
• February 20: Collaborating with SAPS, we made multiple arrests in Uitenhage, addressing crimes like infrastructure theft, business break-ins, and firearm possession.
• February 24: A swift response led to the arrest of 2 suspects tampering with solar equipment at a high school in Despatch, ensuring the recovery of stolen materials.
• February 25: Our advanced CCTV systems thwarted an attempted theft in Kruisrivier, capturing the suspect’s escape and preventing any loss.
Addressing Theft and Copper-Related Crimes
Theft remained the most reported crime, with 126 incidents logged in February. Many of these cases are linked to copper theft, impacting businesses, infrastructure, and homeowners alike.
Burglary Trends and Response
Residential burglaries saw a decline in areas where Atlas Security has intensified patrols and operational focus. This positive trend is attributed to sustained visibility, strategic deployments, and intelligence-driven interventions. However, commercial properties continue to be targeted, prompting us to adapt our strategies to enhance business security.
High-Risk Areas and Key Incidents
The most affected areas in February were:
1. Walmer – 32 incidents
2. Central – 26 incidents
3. Summerstrand – 26 incidents
4. Sidwell – 26 incidents
5. North End – 15 incidents
Our Rapid Intervention Unit (RIU) continues to focus on these areas, adjusting patrol patterns and response times based on emerging crime trends.

110 Incidents Attended | Property Crime Still Dominates | Midweek Spike Observed

Between 8 and 15 February 2026, Atlas Security responded to 110 incidents across Nelson Mandela Bay, excluding CCTV-generated alerts. This reflects a 20.9 percent increase compared to the previous reporting period, where 91 incidents were recorded.
