Arrest: Summerstrand
General

Atlas Security’s Control Room received a phone call reporting a robbery incident near the Humerail area within Summerstrand.
The incident began when the victim was robbed outside a hotel within the Summerstrand area. She immediately ran toward the nearest security presence for help, where a panic activation notified Atlas Security.
Armed Response Officer Bravo 59 was dispatched immediately. Upon arrival, the armed response officer met with the client to obtain further details before conducting a search of the surrounding area.
During patrol, Bravo 59 spotted the suspect description near a service station. The suspect attempted to evade security but was swiftly apprehended without injury. All of the victim’s stolen belongings were recovered and returned safely.
SAPS arrived shortly thereafter and took the suspect, into custody for further investigation.
With SAPS and Atlas Security working hand-in-hand, we’re able to respond faster, act smarter and keep you safer every day. The coordinated response ensured the victim was protected and the suspect was safely detained, preventing the situation from escalating further.
This incident further highlights the power of coordinated response between SAPS and Atlas Security working together to protect the people we serve.

February 2026 saw Atlas Security respond to 378 incidents across Nelson Mandela Bay, reflecting a notable increase on the 258 incidents recorded in January. Theft-related crimes remained the dominant crime, while medical emergencies and burglaries also featured prominently. Despite the higher incident volume, our teams effected 27 arrests during the month, with all suspects handed over to SAPS.

Between 8 and 15 February 2026, Atlas Security responded to 110 incidents across Nelson Mandela Bay, excluding CCTV-generated alerts. This reflects a 20.9 percent increase compared to the previous reporting period, where 91 incidents were recorded.
